6 Areas Free of COVID-19 (for now) - 2021 Update

*2-Minute Read*

In mid-2020, I looked through Worldometer.com to compile a list of countries and territories that were currently Coronavirus-free. But we all know that a lot has changed with this virus, one of which being that only two places on my post from July are in the clear from this disease. So, I'd figured I'd give y'all an update on where to flee (if possible) should COVID-19 become even more overwhelming and depressing.

1) Macau

When it comes to disease prevention, Macau is doing something right. Even though it is a region of the birthplace of the virus (China), its stats have been unchanged since July (46 cases, 0 deaths). Only those with Macau residency are allowed entry, but several classes of foreigners can apply for special permission to visit the area. A quarantine period is no longer required, but everyone must test negative for COVID-19 in the week prior to arrival.

2) Marshall Islands

This is a country in Oceania with close ties to the United States. Four of these islanders tested positive for the virus, but all have since recovered. Borders are open, but there are limited commercial flights and a required three-week quarantine.

3) Montserrat

Montserrat is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean Sea. There have been 13 cases with one fatality. The official travel site for Montserrat clearly states that only nationals, residents, and their dependents are allowed entry.

4) New Caledonia

Like Macau, this French territory was Coronavirus-free in July. Unlike Macau, the number of cases has gone up and down since then. Thankfully, all 40 people who contracted the virus did survive. The island has resumed most transportation, but all visitors must quarantine for two weeks before they explore the island.

5) Samoa

I feel that I should clarify that this is NOT the US territory; that is American Samoa. Samoa is its own country in Oceania. There have only been two cases of Coronavirus, and both of those individuals overcame it. A limited number of travelers are allowed entry and not without a quarantine period, medical examination, etc.

6) Vanuatu

Vanuatu is yet another Oceanian country that had one less case than Samoa. That's right, only one person came down with COVID-19. He/she survived. Still, its borders are closed to all those without special permission to be there.

So, my question to you is, who's coming with me to New Caledonia? Looks like a beaut.
