4 Reasons Behind My Absence
*2-Minute Read*
I'mmmm backkkk!!!! |
So, I had been blogging twice a week for several months straight. And then, after September 18th, it all stopped. I didn't plan to take a hiatus, but things just happened...
1) Extreme Fatigue
This didn't begin on September 18th. It began all the way back in middle school. Even though it's bothersome, I originally thought it wasn't a true problem. Everyone else around me was complaining about how tired they were. I'd figured that was all it was. But the fatigue worsened in 2015, so we addressed it. It improved, but it was still problematic. It worsened again in 2018, forcing me to take a break from school. (I'm determined to get a master's degree at some point, y'all.) Again, improvement but its presence was known. And then, the remaining items on the list worsened it soon after September 18th. Note that any other issue, no matter how minor, makes me even more sleepy. Also note that there is no official diagnosis, but I do take medicine to make me more energetic. I refer to the fatigue as "a sleep issue one rung above narcolepsy."
2) Hurricanes
Yes, I typed correctly. Plural. Not once, but twice we had to evacuate (three times, if you count the tropical storm in Crystal Beach). The category four (nearly five) Hurricane Laura devastated my hometown of Lake Charles, Louisiana, on August 25th. The category two Hurricane Delta added more damage on October 9th. For the most part, our "hurrication" went well. However, at the third camp in Crystal Beach and upon first arriving home, the Internet was unreliable. And, well, I don't think I need to elaborate more on how that affects the blogging process.
3) Allergies
I can thank the hurricanes for this one, because it all started when a demolition company tore a neighbor's house down. Whenever there's dust around, my reaction is not good. Even when I stay indoors. For about two months, I had to get accustomed to breathing solely out of my mouth. By the time I finally got to an ENT, the allergies had mostly subsided. Yet, I found out that I was allergic to dust mites, every kind of grass except bermuda, several kinds of mold, cats, etc. Oh, well. Things could be a lot worse.
4) Writer's Block
When life isn't very exciting (thanks, COVID-19), it's harder to come up with writing topics. The number of ideas on my list of blog post ideas (yes, I have a list of things to list) had started to dwindle. It's not the first time I've been overwhelmed. I've considered dropping down to posting once a week, but we'll see what happens...
If someone reading this thinks I'm making a bunch of excuses, then so be it. Maybe some people can work through these snags with little problems, but it's more difficult for me to do so. Always remember that we all have struggles, and they're different for everyone. Cut yourself some slack.
I'm glad to be back on Blogger and on social media. Hopefully, I'll stay for a while.
